At AQMetrics we have a highly skilled, experienced and diverse workforce with wide ranging backgrounds. Today, we introduce you to Ireland-based Regulatory Reporting Analyst, Aoife Carrol.
Describe your job in three words:
Collaborative, Exacting, Varied.
What are you working on right now?
The Customer Success team is currently working on submissions for the US regulations: 13F, Form PF and CPO-PQR. This is a new area for me, as I’ve mostly worked with EU regulations in the past, so I’m busy getting up to speed on the report specifics and the needs of the customers we file for, as well as absorbing everything I can from our team of subject matter experts.
I’m also getting involved in Innovation Projects. Since I’m relatively new to the team I can give a fresh perspective on platform or process enhancements that could make life easier for both ourselves at AQMetrics, and our clients.
What does a typical day look like?
The first thing I’ll do in the morning is catch up on emails or any Zendesk queries that need attention. I’ll usually check in with the team to see who is working on what, and what opportunities to shadow and learn new tasks there might be.
During filing periods, the team will be in communication with customers regarding data collection and ingestion to the AQMetrics platform – this involves a lot of attention to detail and would be the team’s primary focus coming up to reporting deadlines.
I’m also responsible for daily monitoring of our MiFID ARM activity, to ensure there are no systemic issues impacting our customers’ reporting, and that’s something I’ll review throughout the day.
Outside of this, I’ll spend time reading up on the specific regulations we cater to, making sure to keep on top of any new guidance or changes to requirements that are upcoming. The CS team is also involved in webinars and demos, so if anything like that is scheduled I would spend time preparing, for example, getting the staging environment or presentation slides ready.
How has your background helped with your role in AQMetrics?
I’ve come from a background in regulatory reporting and asset management operations. My expertise in MiFID transaction reporting and experience on the other side of the business as an ARM client is particularly helpful in my role at AQMetrics, as we look to improve our customers’ experience and expand our client base in this area.
I also have past experience in numerous client facing roles, including as a customer success manager, so I think I’m uniquely placed at the crossroads of everything that AQMetrics does.
Best thing about working in AQMetrics?
The sense of teamwork and true collaborative culture at AQMetrics is something that sets it apart. Coming from a larger organisation, you might expect to have less access to resources or individuals at a smaller company with everyone stretched thin, but the opposite has been true in my experience. I’ve been completely welcomed by everyone I’ve met or worked with, and no one is unwilling to answer a call or lend a hand when you need. It’s a great environment that definitely motivates you to do your best for the team and for our customers every day.
What websites do you visit the most?
Anything news….Irish Times, NYT, WaPo, Economist, but also Netflix and Instagram.
