At AQMetrics we have a highly skilled, experienced and diverse workforce with wide ranging backgrounds. Today, we introduce you to Ireland-based Senior Sales Executive, Ben Clay.
Describe yourself in three words:
Driven, collaborative, adaptable.
What’s the most exciting thing you’re working on right now:
I’m currently helping to on-board a number of new clients as a result of due diligence reviews of their MiFID II transaction reporting arrangements.
How has your background helped with your role at AQMetrics?
I recently moved with my family from London for a new life in County Wicklow, Ireland. Prior to joining AQMetrics I had a lengthy career with Bloomberg where my most recently role was selling transaction reporting. That being said, there is a lot to learn at AQMetrics, where it can be seen that everyone’s input has a tangible impact on the success of the company and clients.
Best thing about working in AQMetrics?
At AQMetrics there is a real passion for success. There is a wealth of contrasting but complementary skills that makes working with the organisation a pleasure. I also get to live in the countryside, commute through some fantastic scenery and see my children before they go to bed, which is a bonus!
If you could meet a famous person who would it be?
Anyone who knows me will know I am a massive fan of Kate Bush, so the answer is obvious! A meeting though would be highly unlikely considering her reputation for being private and reclusive. I did however see her at her 22-night residency at the Hammersmith Odeon in 2014, twice!
Last book you read or series you watched?
I would love to claim I’m reading something highly intellectual like Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time, but in reality I’m reading David Walliams –The Midnight Gang, with my children. His books are surprisingly good; humorous and heart warming at the same time with excellent characters for the young imaginative mind. In terms of TV, anything cars or Motorsport.

Tell us something about yourself we don’t know?
I have twice represented the UK at the World Ice Pool swimming championships in Finland. What’s Ice Pool Swimming? As it sounds. Find a frozen lake. Cut a hole in it the dimension of a swimming pool. Rope off some lanes and have a swimming competition. Strictly trunks only, no wetsuits!
